Johnson House
Story by Educator Alisa
This week in Johnson House we have had ‘lunchbox week’ for the children who are preparing to start school next year. This activity provides the children with the opportunity to practice and develop skills in managing a lunchbox, which they will need to do at school. The children enjoyed practising their independence and ate the sandwiches, crackers and fruits that had been packed in their lunch boxes. They learnt how to open and close their own lunch containers, twist yogurt lids on and off, and open and close their drink bottles. The children are also beginning to learn to eat the portions of food from their lunch boxes that are for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. These are just some of the important skills that children are learning in Johnson House as they prepare to start school in the coming months.
